  • There’s something special about revisiting a collaboration that’s already made an impact. When we teamed up with Sunbula last year to purchase a skincare pouch, it was a huge success. The pouches were practical, beautifully crafted, and struck a chord with our customers thanks to their inspired story. We couldn’t have loved them more.
  • So, when it came to creating something meaningful and useful for our customers while staying true to our values, the answer was obvious. We decided to partner with Sunbula once again, this time to create something especially for us that’s not just beautiful but also fits seamlessly into your skincare routine – limited-edition headbands. Handmade, keffiyeh-inspired, and just perfect for your skincare ritual.
  • These headbands aren’t just giveaways. They’re thoughtful little additions to your routine, created to make your self-care moments smoother, easier, and a touch more stylish. We’re big believers in crafting products that resonate with the people who use them – personalisation is practically our mantra – and what better way to do that than a handmade addition to your skincare routine?
  • There’s also something deeply meaningful about these headbands. They’re more than just a nod to our Palestinian heritage (Dina, our founder, is half Palestinian) – they’re a symbol of craftsmanship and community. The traditional keffiyeh colours running through the design add a cultural significance that we hope will mean as much to you as it does to us. But fair warning: we only have a limited amount – they’re handmade, after all – so we hope you don’t miss out.
  • Let’s talk about Sunbula. Sunbula is a Jerusalem-based nonprofit, dedicated to empowering Palestinian artisans through fair-trade and the preservation of cultural traditions. For decades, they’ve provided training, resources, and opportunities to artisans across Palestine, ensuring their skills not only survive but thrive in the face of adversity.
  • One of Sunbula’s most remarkable initiatives is the Haneen Project, launched in 2007 in the Balata refugee camp. Balata – the largest refugee camp in the West Bank – is home to more than 22,000 people living in overcrowded conditions with limited infrastructure. Amid these challenges, Sunbula’s training sparked something extraordinary – a collective of women who transformed their embroidery skills into a source of hope and income.

  • The Haneen Project takes its name from the Arabic word “Haneen,” meaning “longing.” It’s a tribute to the artisans’ connection and longing for their ancestral Palestine homeland and the rich heritage they carry forward. Through the project, women from the Balata camp have found a way to support their families while honouring centuries-old traditions.
  • For these artisans, embroidery isn’t just a craft – it’s a form of storytelling. Each piece they create carries the history, culture, and resilience of Palestine. From intricate cross-stitch patterns to the use of traditional materials such as Syrian satin and Hebron leather, the work crafted by Haneen – including the headbands handmade for ilik – are as meaningful as they are beautiful.
  • What makes Sunbula and the Haneen Project such perfect partners for ilik is their ethos. Like us, they’re committed to quality, authenticity, and making a genuine impact. Collaborating with them allows us to offer something truly unique to our customers while contributing to something bigger.
  • With every ilik order, you’ll receive one of these limited-edition headbands, created with love and purpose. It’s more than just a gift – it’s a reminder that beauty and meaning can go hand in hand.
